Gîte Sofie was our base for 14 days exploring the Dordogne region.
It turned out to be a perfect choice. The gîte has everything you could possibly need on holiday, is cozily furnished, spacious, clean, and comfortable.
The garden and pool are beautiful, and the location is ideal for visiting the most beautiful villages and towns in the surrounding area. Additionally, and not unimportantly, it's close to several basic shops. No hassle getting in the car in the morning to pick up fresh bread from the bakery or something from the grocer or butcher. Everything is just a few minutes' walk away, and that's pure luxury.
We happily give five stars to Laura and Laurent, the incredibly friendly owners, who went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible with advice and assistance.
Recommended? Absolutely 🙂

We stayed at Gîte Sofie for two weeks. The house is very clean and well-equipped with a lovely terrace. The heated pool was fantastic!

The village is charming with a bakery, butcher, bar, pharmacy, grocery store, tobacconist, bank, post office, etc. It's ideally located for exploring the main attractions of the Périgord Noir region.

The icing on the cake: Laura and Laurent. Our hosts were both discreet and readily available, offering excellent care, advice, and conversation. It was a real pleasure to meet them, and we had a wonderful holiday! All the best to Laura and Laurent.

We had a wonderful week at this beautiful and welcoming bed and breakfast! The cottages were clean and very comfortably furnished. Lots of fun activities to do in the area... in short, pure enjoyment!

We had a wonderful time. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, the views, and the stars. The cottages are beautiful and comfortably furnished. You can tell that a lot of care has gone into everything; anything you could possibly imagine is available in the cottage or at the B&B.

Besides the beautiful surroundings, there's plenty to do nearby, and a day relaxing at the lovely pool was certainly worth it.

Had the pleasure to stay at Les Coquelicots de Dordogne with a group of 8 friends (augustus 2024). As we were a large group we had the possibility to book all 3 gites at the same. Booking the 3 gites as a group meant that we had the entire premise to ourselves. This opened up all posibilities of large breakfasts, lunches, dinner and BBQ in the spacious garden. The pool-area became one of our favorite places to hang as we enjoyed the playlist of music that the hosts picked out for us.

You will not find more caring hosts then Laura and Laurent. This dynamic duo runs Les Coquelicots de Dordogne with 110% passion with the utmost care and attention to detail. Interested in you and eager to strike up a conversation on whatever you have going or simply let you be and enjoy your time off. But always available and ready to help in case you have questions.

The gites are spotlessly clean, comfortable at night and equiped with everything you would ever need. A short walk from the town which always has something to offer. The butcher in town is a great visit!

Laura and Laurent have a lot of knowledge of the local area and the region and will help you find activities that fit exactly your needs during your stay. Do not skip the info session as there is so much to in the area (if an active stay is something you are looking for).

Summary: 5-star stay - would recommend!

When you've enjoyed something, you should share it with others. So I highly recommend Les Coquelicots de Dordogne and the charming Claire cottage, which is very well-equipped and comfortable for two people with a dog. A small private outdoor terrace completes the accommodation. I mustn't forget to praise the owner as well. Laurent is very welcoming and offers excellent advice. Always with a smile and a charming southern accent. And the icing on the cake is the lovely swimming pool open to guests for relaxing after a day exploring this magnificent region of the Dordogne.

What can we say... we had an excellent week. The "Cyril" gîte is beautiful, the grounds are lovely, and the swimming pool is simply magnificent with wonderfully warm water.
